Capacity Development is a cross cutting pillar that touches all of FCI’s stakeholders – ranging from staff to external partners like government, the private sector and smallholder farmers. Capacity Development is implemented primarily through partnerships with universities, research institutions and government targeting three levels of clientele:

Level 1: Smallholders including farmers and agro-pastoralists

Level 2: Implementing partners such as the Ministry of Agriculture

Level 3: Business Development Service providers such as transporters and buyers

What differentiates us from the pack?

What differentiates FCI on the capacity development frontier is our unique approach aimed at embedding trade facilitation during all training sessions.

Several approaches that you can utilize as a trainer include:

  • Kijiji eTraining Kit (use of videos, audio, illustrations)
  • Practical approaches (Village business forums, exchange visits, demonstrations)
  • Experiential sharing as an approach to training (by farmers, buyers etc)
  • Online tools and mobile platforms (Apps like eHinga)
